"The Last Race's" main location was Glenoaks Boulevard, in Sun Valley, Los Angeles. It has been an actual street racing spot for years, and one of the places where Alex and his friends used to race. "The shoot was also hard on everyone. We had short summer nights, so we had to move fast. Except for a couple of days, the actors did most of their own driving and had a blast doing so".

In order to get cars for the background, Alex and Dennis called everyone they knew and asked them to come out. "All the extras came out for free, so we did our best to set up some real races in between takes and during our food breaks". The final racing shot of the film was filmed without a permit. "We parked to the side of the street, ran out and set up the camera, started rolling, and had the cars line up and race. About 3 minutes after we left, the cops showed up. I guess sometimes outlaw filming wasn't much different from street racing".
