Sitting down with Alex Ranarivelo, director of "The
Last Race" is always interesting. He is 26 years old, ultra-talented,
and extremely passionate about the art of film making and the love
he has for racing, and it shows in every part of this film. Alex came
up with the story for the film, while in the midst of film school
at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. His writing teacher said
to "write about what you know". Street racing immediately came to
mind since he's a huge motor sports fan and an ex-street racer. Alex
wanted to make a film that portrays today's street-racers in a realistic
manner.
During early
pre-production, Alex met Dennis Caco, President of Autocannon, through
some friends in the import world. Dennis read the script, and loved
it. He offered to help produce and distribute the film. |
